Takeaways

Social Media & Marketing Class (MKT 495): This class has been the most rewarding that I have taken at the University of Tampa. What set it apart from every other course was the way it bridged the gap between classroom learning and the real world. It offered something so many marketing students are looking for: the chance to actually do the work, not just learn about it. Through this class, I was able to gain hands-on experience by working with a real client, creating content that had a direct purpose and value beyond a grade. I developed an entire portfolio of deliverables that I’m truly proud of, which is something so critical in such a competitive job market. This class provided the structure and support to help us not only understand how social media functions as a marketing tool, but also how to approach it strategically, thinking through campaign objectives, audience insights, brand guidelines, and performance metrics. We learned how to create, edit, and schedule engaging content, how to craft proposals, and how to understand the “why” behind what we post. Every assignment felt meaningful and applicable, and the opportunity to work with real tools and platforms used in the industry gave me a level of preparation I had never felt before. I walked away from this course not just with new knowledge, but with skills, confidence, and a growing sense of professional identity.

Class Client Experience: Getting the chance to work with PAINT Nail Bar Tampa as our class client was one of the most valuable and heartwarming parts of this course. The experience didn’t feel like a typical class project; it felt like a true collaboration with a real business that cared deeply about its brand, its clients, and the people supporting its growth. Brooklyn and Joe, the owners of PAINT, were nothing short of lovely to work with. They welcomed us with open arms, treated us with kindness and respect, and encouraged creativity every step of the way. Their warmth and support made the entire process feel meaningful and exciting. I had the opportunity to produce two short-form videos for their social media: one showcasing their boutique jewelry collection and how accessories can complement freshly done nails, and another emphasizing the value of their prime downtown location by highlighting nearby attractions like Oxford Exchange. These projects allowed me to combine content strategy, video production, and branding in a real-world setting. I was able to film in the salon, interact with the team, and get a true sense of what it’s like to create social media content that aligns with a business’s voice, aesthetic, and mission. PAINT’s commitment to luxury, clean beauty, and personalized service made it an inspiring brand to work with, and I am incredibly proud of the deliverables I produced for them. This experience not only helped me build a stronger portfolio but also reinforced my passion for creative marketing. I am very thankful for the opportunity to contribute to such a beautiful and cleanly branded business.
